The Most Common Driving Test Mistakes
Feeling nervous for your upcoming driving test? Don’t worry,
here’s a list of all the things you should NOT do to pass your test!
But first, you should know that the
driving test is the most important step to securing your driver’s license.
While it might take a lot practice to get ready for a road test, knowing the
most common things that can go wrong can help:
Not Getting Enough Practice
More often than not, individuals who have not taken driving
lessons with an instructor don’t really know what is expected of them during
the test. Even if you are confident about your skills, it would be really
beneficial to take a lesson or two before the test.
There are quite a number of bad habits that might lead to
failure; this makes it important to be evaluated by a professional who can
point out your mistakes.
Not Making Side-To-Side and Mirror Checks
Many drivers going for their tests completely forget to
constantly check their sides and rear-view mirrors. It is really common for
drivers to fail the test when they are not doing head checks. Not checking out
a blind spot when changing lanes or pulling out in traffic can also lead to
failure.
Make sure you are looking in the direction where you are
going.
Not Stopping At Signs
Not pulling over on a traffic light can instantly lead to
failure. You might be tempted to keep moving when the way is clear, but don’t –
wait for the light to turn green, instead. At times, some drivers don’t
completely understand the difference between “Stop” and “All-Way Stop” traffic
signs, and end up failing the test. When you come upto an intersection, be sure
you know what to do.
Making Turns without Yielding To Pedestrians
The examiner might instantly fail you if you turn in a
crosswalk with a pedestrian in it. Never enter a crosswalk until there is no
one in it. Also, carefully observe people standing on the corners. They can
quickly decide to enter the crosswalk.
For students who want to pass their driving test on the first
attempt, it is strongly recommended to take driving lessons with a certified
instructor. This way, you will be aware of all the traffic rules and laws and you will
potentially boost your chances of nailing the test!
